Research Scientist – Organic Materials

An exceptional new role for a post-doctoral Research Scientist (or possibly Chemist) with a solid background in materials science and chemistry, applications and technical problem solving – and an inquisitive mind! This is very much a hands-on R&D role – the Research / Materials Scientist will participate in the development of next generation of organic electronic materials by design and synthesis of new functional materials (monomers, polymers or small molecules).

Responsibilities of Research / Materials Scientist:
– Scientific contribution to research projects including making proposals for material correlation investigations, developing chemical analytical methods, contributing to idea generation and problem-solving sessions, and project meeting discussions
– Investigating and developing the fundamental engineering & science behind a multitude of technical problems
– Hands-on R&D experiments in laboratory and analysing data to enhance understanding
– Building first-principle calculations or advanced models to guide product design work
– Writing proposals and presenting to clients in a way that clearly interprets the science for their needs
– Taking new opportunities and developing them into business opportunities

To be considered for the role of Research Scientist role you need the following:
– A 2.1 (MSc/MPhys/MRes/MPhil/MA) or above (PhD, DPhil) in Organic Materials Science (or closely related subject – Chemistry etc) from a leading university

– Strong background in Materials Science research
– Recent relevant experience in synthesis, purification and characterisation of novel functional materials to meet technical performance requirements
– Solid recent experience in characterisation of molecule and polymer / monomer systems
– Experience in working in a project-based environment
– Experience in leading projects, team and technical developments
