This highly successful technology company design state-of-the-art laser systems & also provide bespoke laser micromachining services for clients world-wide. They have a new role for an experienced Laser Applications Development Engineer/Scientist to join the Micromachining R&D department.
The Laser Applications Development Engineer will develop new laser micro-machining processes & techniques for a range of clients from a diverse range of sectors including medical devices, consumer goods, automotive, semiconductors -and many more. The Laser Applications Development Engineer/Scientist will quickly take responsibility for all aspects of managing and delivering projects. As your capabilities grow there will be opportunities for you expand your responsibilities to include assisting with on-site installation and commissioning of equipment world-wide and contributing to exciting new R&D projects.
â¢ BSc degree or higher in Lasers/Optical Engineering, Physics, Engineering or similar qualification plus equivalent practical experience. (A Laser related postgrad qualification would be a distinct advantage)
â¢ Practical and hands-on experience with laser applications development â specifically for micromachining is a must
Knowledge of the following would be highly beneficial:
â¢ Laser Micro-machining
â¢ High average power ultrafast laser systems
â¢ Materials Science
â¢ Motion control hardware integration e.g. CNC tables, controllers, amplifiers, motors, galvanometer or other optical scanners
â¢ Machine control software programming e.g. G-code, CADCAM
â¢ Optical systems design, alignment, machine vision and industrial imaging techniques for OEM integration
