Electrochemist – Biotech R&D

This multi-award-winning biotechnology company have a brand-new role for an Electrochemist at their site in Cambridgeshire. This well-funded biotechnology start-up has a novel technology platform used for the fast, accurate and inexpensive extraction of genetic and epigenetic information from single molecules of DNA and RNA. The potential of this technology is huge. It will change the way we access genetic information giving access to vastly more detail than any other technology currently on the market. This technology will transform the life sciences & medical research sectors which in turn will save many lives!
The company have two cutting edge facilities in Cambridge (UK) and Paris (France). This position will be based in Cambridge with frequent travel to Paris.
• Masters-level degree in Chemistry, Physics, Electronics or Biomedical Engineering.
• Electroplating at micron-scale electrode
• Experience with Ag/AgCl electrode in terms of stability, microfabrication technique
• DNA manipulation (e.g. electrophoresis) and DNA attachment to modified surface
• Familiarity with various surface analysis and characterisation techniques
• Familiarity with EIS (Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy) technique
• Competent in use of potentiostat
• Additional bonus if familiar with microfabrication technique for building MEMS structure on chip and developing microfluidics device
