A new role for a Physicist or Electronics Engineer with a background in electro-optic (EO) sensor systems/Photonics/Optoelectronics has been created at a leading R&D company specialising in highly advanced opto-electronic imaging and electro-magnetic (radio frequency) systems domains. The Physicist, Engineer or Optical Scientist will join as an EO Sensor System Assessment Scientist/Engineer and will be a key member of a specialist team providing expertise covering research, test and evaluation to their national and international client base. This brand-new position has been created due to company expansion – to increase the expertise of the company’s renowned Electro-Optical (EO) team. Projects cover the full electro-magnetic spectrum (from UV to Far IR), including optics, imaging and atmospheric propagation. This will also involve more practical areas such as utilising test equipment in a lab environment and undertaking field trials to assess the EO Sensor Systems.
The Physicist / Optical Scientist will be responsible for leading the delivery of these activities, initially under the guidance of a technical lead; but having the opportunity to progress their career and suggest new topic areas of work on some of their longer-term projects!
Requirements for Physicist / Opto-Electronics Engineer
A Masters (MSc, MRes, MPhys) or PhD in Physics, Electronics Engineering or similar
Previous experience in assessment and evaluation of electro-optic systems
Demonstrate a strong understanding of:
o Theory of optics and light (UV to Far IR)
o Electro-optic systems (across multiple wavebands)
Experience of dealing with Customers and Suppliers
Exp using Test and Measurement
